Outreach FCU Fraud Protection Statement

With the ever-increasing fraudulent attempts to capture your debit and credit card information, and your banking account numbers, here are three major items to keep top-of-mind:

  1. Our team will NEVER call, email, or text asking you to give us your debit or credit card information or your member account numbers. Our office hours in Hermitage are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM and we will not call you after hours.
  2. Our VISA debit and credit card fraud departments may send out a text at varying hours if there is an unusual charge attempt, but they will only verify transactions, they will never ask you for any of the information found on your physical card (like the expiration date or security code on the back).
  3. Be suspicious of any call from ANY company asking for your card/banking numbers or accusing you of wrongdoing of any kind. The fraudster’s goal is often to create fear or anger so you’ll share info they can use to steal your money. The real IRS will not call you, toll-booths will not text you, claims of past banking relationships and money-owed from years ago need to be verified by your calling the bank during banking hours, and a real government or law enforcement office will not call you for money because of missed jury duty. All of these types of attempts are trying to steal your money.

We’ve had members in their thirties give away their money all the way up to members in their eighties be scammed. Awareness is important for all members.

If you are ever suspicious, please call us at 615-883-4019 and we are happy to help you research or offer advice on next steps.
